Family and Divorce Staff
Hazel is our head of family law. With over 30 years of family law experience she has been an accredited specialist with Resolution in the areas of domestic abuse and child law since 2002.
Hazel represents both private and publicly funded clients and advises on all aspects of family law including divorce, separation, cohabitation, domestic violence, financial provision and matters involving children.
She is well known and highly regarded for her down to earth approach and commitment to the highest level of client service.
Michaela joined the family law department in August 2017.
Her career in law costs started in 2011 when she initially worked as a costs draftsman. A costs draftsman or draftsperson is a legal specialist who settles the legal costs of a court case.
Michaela has worked in family law firms based in Liverpool since 2014, specialising in legal aid matters.
Her role at Canter Levin & Berg requires her to work closely with our head of department, Hazel Bacon, preparing bills relating to a range of different matters including public and private law.
Rebecca joined the family team in April 2019, having qualified as a solicitor in February 2018.
She has specialised in care proceedings, private children cases and domestic abuse cases since beginning her legal career in 2015.
Originally from Northern Ireland, Rebecca attended Liverpool John Moores University where she graduated in law with first class honours. She is a committee member of Resolution Merseyside and the Family Business Committee at Liverpool Law Society.
Rebecca graduated with Honours in Law from the University of Liverpool in 2011. As part of her training she advised across all areas of law including civil litigation and criminal law, before qualifying as a solicitor in family law, where she found her passion. Since then, Rebecca has dealt with complex family law cases and advises on all areas including divorce and financial matters, as well as children law.
Rebecca has a particular interest in children law, where she has represented clients in cases involving child sexual abuse allegations, fabricated or induced illness and non-accidental injury cases, in all courts including the Court of Appeal. She is also regularly instructed by the Office of the Official Solicitor and has worked with Leading Counsel (QCs).
In recognition of her achievements as a senior lawyer, Rebecca gained Higher Rights of Audience in civil proceedings in 2014 and is accredited by the Law Society as a member of the Children Law scheme.
Rebecca prides herself on her honest and down to earth approach with clients.

Amanda graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2016. Having practised in the field of personal injury law and following a year of travel, she returned to specialise in family law.
Amanda works mainly in connection with children cases and is studying for her Masters’ in this area of law. She commenced her solicitor’s training contract with Canter Levin & Berg in September 2020.
Jude joined us in February 2019. She studied criminology at Bangor University and completed her legal training in Chester, qualifying as a solicitor in 2006.
Having practised criminal law, she moved to family law in 2008.
Jude represents clients at court, covering all aspects of children law including public (care proceedings) and private law children disputes, as well as special guardianship and domestic abuse.
A dedicated member of Resolution, Jude trained as an all issues family mediator in 2018 and is working towards accreditation. She has always promoted the use of dispute resolution skills in everyday practice and has found it to be a particularly helpful skillset when advising clients and assisting litigants in all aspects of family law.
