Awaab's Law - Good News For Tenants Suffering From Housing Disrepair - hopefully!

Awaab’s Law is a part of the biggest social housing reform in over a decade, following the preventable death of two- year old Awaab Ishak in 2020, who passed as a result of exposure to mould in the social home resided in by himself and his family. The shock of his death has pushed the government to take safety concerns from residents in social housing more seriously, with the introduction of the Social Housing Regulation Act 2023.

Canter Levin & Berg Secures £20,500 Settlement Against Sanctuary Housing Association Due To Severe Damp And Mould

 

Our 68-year-old client, SF, started her claim with us in late 2022, with the hope of holding her landlord, Sanctuary Housing Association, accountable for the disrepair that her home had fallen in to, due to their lack of response to her complaints. She had raised the issues with Sanctuary Housing Association since 2019 and after 3 years of complaining, she was left discouraged after no action was taken by her landlord to fix the disrepair.
